M loves Youtube.

I think I’ve mentioned this several times before..

There are videos that use pop songs in the background.

There’s one video of a Play Doh Ice Cream Shoppe review that M loves to watch over and over again.  In the background, the song that is playing is Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream.”  M has seen this video enough that she knows and sings the song.  When she hears the song, she now calls it the “Play Doh Song.”

There’s a fan video of Masha & The Bear using Demi Lovato’s “Two World’s Collide.”  She watches THAT video many times that she also knows and sings the song also.  When she hears this song, she now calls it the “Masha Bear Song.”

Sometimes in the car, she wants to hear those songs.  Lucky for her, I’ve owned those songs for a long time.

“Mimi?  Play Doh Song?”

“Mimi?  Masha Bear Song?”

It’s the cutest thing.  The best part is her singing along…

What pop songs do your toddlers love?

M loves to sing.  She especially LOVES singing songs from her Sofia The First soundtrack.

I usually LOVE singing with her too.  Ever since she was born, I have looked forward to the day when we could sing little duets together.

But…

Sigh..

She doesn’t want me to sing!

:::Sob:::

Starting last week, every time I tried to sing with her, she’d do this whiny thing and just push me away.

What a diva!

I’m so sad!  Why won’t she sing with me?!

Ugh. Toddlers.

Anyone else experiencing this?  What did you do?

M has discovered a plethora of nursery rhymes on Youtube.

She particularly loves the videos from The Mother Goose Club and from a YouTube account called HooplaKids, or something to that effect.

She’s constantly wanting to listen and watch these videos.. the following are her favorite:

Baa baa sheep (Baa baa black sheep)
Twinkle stah (Twinkle, twinkle little star)
No monkey bed (5 Little Monkeys Jumping on The Bed)
Baby ah-haa (The Wheels on the bus – because of the baby on the bus saying “wah wah wah.)
Teapot (I’m a little teapot)
McNonald (Old Mc Donald had a farm)
‘A’ apple ah ah (Phonics songs)

And that’s all I can think of at this time.  She LOVES these songs at the moment and it’s so cute watching her eyes light up when she sees these videos..

She loves when I help her out with the actions on The Wheels On The Bus, or when we shake our fingers when the doctors says, “No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”

There are even times when she tries to sing along.. it’s so cute.  She can pretty much say the last word of every line of every song.

I love that music is starting to make an impact in her life.

I’m starting a new category on this blog.. “You know you’re a parent..”  These will be short and sweet blog entries that will pop up every so often..  I encourage all of you to comment you’re thoughts of when you knew you were a parent every time these posts come up!  I’d love to hear your stories!

You know you’re a parent when..

You’re sitting in the car belting out the songs from the Sofia The First soundtrack like you’re auditioning for American Idol..

And you’re daughter is asleep in the backseat..

Or better yet.. you’re driving to work and she’s not even in the car!
