Yes.  I have been off the blog for a few days.

Toddler germs are really potent.

I caught whatever M was dealing with.

M has gotten over it quite quickly.

What ever she was dealing with absolutely floored me!  There weren’t enough steam baths, decongestants, tissues and hot tea in the world that was going to make me better.  Seriously.

I was so stuffed up one night that I was so absolutely miserable and angry at the world.

I just couldn’t stop complaining and ranting and sulking and just being absolutely miserable just because I couldn’t breathe through my nose.

A little melodramatic, I know.. but I couldn’t help it.

My poor M, because she wanted to be with me at all times, she had to hear about how miserable I was.  I’d lie there and she’d look at me.. and I’d just pour my frustrated heart out to her.

And if you’re wondering, no, I never blamed her for my cold.  It’s not like she gave it to me on purpose.  It’s not her fault.

Luckily, the severe congestion only lasted one night.  I’m still battling congestion, but it’s not as bad as that one sad night.  The cold seems to be lingering for me, while M is pretty much on the mend.

I hope this cold won’t be too bad during Thanksgiving, I’d love to have some sense of taste back when I eat some yummy Thanksgiving food..

It would have been perfect!

We had a 4-day weekend to celebrate the 4th of July…

Wednesday night, we decided to go to the playgroup at the park with M. All was fine until we went home when M’s nose decided to start running like a faucet. I thought to myself, no big deal. It was allergies. Once we got all of “park stuff” out of her system and cleared out her nose, it will all be good.. So made sure to really clean her up well, and really was her face during that night’s bath..

We woke up Thursday morning and she was soo stuffed up. We ended up taking her into the bathroom with us while we showered so that she could benefit from the steam. It helped loosen up her stuffy nose and throat, so we went to the park to celebrate the 4th of July with the rest of the community.

As the day went on, we could see she was getting worse.. her nose was either constantly running, or stuffy. She was getting tired and grumpy.. so we just went home. We didn’t go out the rest of the day, we didn’t see fireworks that night.

During dinner, we noticed that she would clamp down really hard and would tense up her jaw.

Uh oh. Teething.

I peeked into her mouth and noticed that her little canines finally broke through and were little points outside her gums. I also noticed that her gums in the back of her mouth were swollen too. The poor girl was miserable. I gave her a half dose of PediaCare and it took care of the pain.

On Friday, we decided to rest. That’s when MY throat started to feel bad. I knew I was next. My parents came over that night to celebrate the rest of the weekend with us.

Saturday and Sunday, I was miserable! My throat stopped hurting but my head was aching, and my nose was stuffy. M started coughing because all the mucuous from her nose would travel down to her throat at night. That led to her coughing all day!

I had planned on taking my parents and brother to the beach. I planned on taking them to a Farmer’s Market and spending a whole day out and about San Diego..

But… with a toddler, nothing can really be planned.

M and I are both recovering. Thank God, this cold didn’t lead to ANOTHER ear infection for M.. she just finished her final dose of antibiotics for her LAST ear infection about two weeks ago!

Hope everyone else had a great weekend.

Time stood still for the past few days while M was sick..

She caught a cold from me.

I was feeling under the weather earlier last week.

I knew she was going to get it the day that I started having a sore throat.  I remember being the one to pick M up from her Grandparents house after work.  She was so happy to see me that she kissed me.  I tried to turn my head so she would end up kissing my cheek, but she held my face and turned it towards her so she could give me a little kiss on the lips..

That’s when I knew… it was just a waiting game for the symptoms to come.

We had a scheduled playdate later on that week, and I was so worried she would get sick before that.  I was really looking forward to it and I hated the thought of missing it..

Luckily for us (and for the other kids), she was fine and had a great time at the playdate..

It was Saturday when we started noticing her runny nose.. by the end of the day, she was warm with a low-grade fever and a nose like a faucet.

Sunday, her fever got up to as high as 101 before bed and I knew that we had to go to the Doctors.. I knew an ear infection was here..

All of Sunday night and all of Monday, she was just a little sick patient.  She was sitting down and lying down more than her usual up and peppy self..

The doctor said she was getting pus in her ears.. ew!  The ear wasn’t infected YET, but with the pus collecting in her ear, she had to be treated..

By Tuesday, she was getting better.. she was taking loooong naps but she was starting to run about..

By yesterday, she no longer had fevers and her nose wasn’t as runny.. I think she’s on the path to recovery.. thank God..

Time stood still for our household as we had to care for our little girl.. but now.. things are starting to get back to normal.. and I can now blog again..

There’s sooo much to tell you!

M has a cold.

Last Monday we had her follow up appointment from the last cold she had and she was all clear.

Well, it didn’t take long to expose her to germs again!

Sometimes I wish I could stick her in a bubble so she wouldn’t get sick.

Blog entries may be sparse and late due to this germ filled toddler.

Please be patient.
