The story of Hansel and Gretel had been featured on both Super Why and Little Einsteins, two shows which M has been pretty obsessed with lately.

Because of this, M had been super curious about “a house made of cookies.”

I remembered what I did years ago during Christmas time when I made “gingerbread houses” using graham crackers and frosting.

Yesterday, while I took a shower (and had some ‘me’ time), Hubby decided to let M make her “house made of cookies.”

He laid down some leftover plastic tablecloth from her many birthday parties, and they assembled the house!

M mainly loved the playing with the frosting, while Hubby loved assembling the house.

We used mini m&ms as the only decoration.  It was just enough for her, plus she LOVES mini m&ms.  Hubby said she kept eating the m&ms as he would stick them onto the house.

Because of the warmth of these summer nights, the frosting didn’t hold as well.  But you can tell in this photo that M didn’t care and that she had so much fun with the entire activity.

I can’t wait until Christmas to try this again.  Hopefully the cooler temperatures would allow the frosting would stick better.

This was a super fun activity that can get really messy, but with the proper covering, it was very manageable.  Hubby just gathered the entire plastic table cloth and tossed it all in the trash.  Everything underneath it was clean.

I highly suggest this project for any toddler.  It’s really good for anytime of the year!

If God permits,  this is M’s last summer as an only child.  It’s also the last summer where ‘going out’ is pretty easy.  We only have to pack a few things and we are out the door.

So, we’ve decided that we need to make the most of it for M.

In January, when we made the decision to try to get pregnant again, we also made the decision to take M to all the places she’s been wanting to go, since it’s a lot easier to take her places now, AND she is old enough to enjoy it.  Because she’s 2 years old, she’s also free to a lot of the places she wants to go too.  That really helps out too!

In May, we went to Disneyland.

Yesterday, we went to Legoland.

She has been wanting to go because of all the commercials that she’s been seeing for months now.  She especially wanted to go to the waterpark.

Thank God, the weather was cooperating and we were able to enjoy a day at Legoland, the Sealife Aquarium, AND the waterpark.

She had a blast!  Because she loves water, she especially LOVED the waterpark.  The wading pools are 2 feet deep and perfect for her to walk around freely and pretend to swim.  She and I stayed in the wading pools for most of the visit, while Hubby got to enjoy himself going down some of the waterslides.  We went down the kiddie waterslide several times and we let her float in the little kiddie lazy river.  Overall, she just loved being in the water.

She was the happiest little kid in the world yesterday!

She was so happy to be there that it really made me cry to see her enjoy herself so much.  Ok, maybe it’s the hormones, but still…

I’m so glad we had the chance to do this for her.  She’s been asking to go to Sea World and the beach, so those places are definitely on our list.

I’m so happy to be making these memories for her.

Yesterday, M and I were in the bathroom, making faces at each other in the mirror.

I turn to the side to observe my changing profile and notice that I am now sporting a small baby bump.

Me: M, look.  My tummy is getting big!  There’s a baby inside.
M:  Me too.  Malia tummy getting big!  A baby in there like Mimi!

She poofed out her tummy and rubbed it like I was doing.

Super cute.

When we found out that we were pregnant, we let M know right away.

For months now, she had been into babies.  She would constantly take her baby doll and carry it around, rock it to sleep, feed it.  She even named it “Brother.”

So we figured that it would be ok for us to tell her that there is a baby on the way.

I don’t know if I was expecting her to get excited.  I don’t know if I was expecting her to go straight to my stomach and cover it with kisses..

I really don’t know what I was expecting to happen.

This is what happened:

She was playing with one of her stuffed animals when I told her.  I told her that there was a baby in my tummy.  She said, “yes” without even looking up at me and continued playing with her toy.

Ok.  So it was very uneventful.

I did get her to stop playing for a quick second to give my belly a kiss, but that was about it.

Overall, she wasn’t impressed.  She’s two.  She doesn’t get it.  She probably won’t get it until my stomach gets huge or the baby is actually here.

How did you introduce your little one to your new pregnancy?  Did you tell them right away?  Did you wait until you were showing more?  I’d love to hear your stories in the comments!

M’s been asking to go to the beach lately. When I mean lately, it’s been about once a day for the past month or so..

She is such a little beach bunny.  She LOVES the beach.  Lucky for us, we live fairly close to the beach.  Gotta love San Diego.  We’re at least 20-30 minutes from pretty much any beach we want.  The main beach we frequent is La Jolla, but I love exploring new beaches.

Looks like we are going to try to take M to the beach sometime this weekend.  It’s the least we could do since she’s been asking so nicely.

Hopefully the weather will be beach-friendly…

Something is happening between the dynamic of our family.

Daddy.

Suddenly, it’s all about “fun-Daddy.”

I guess it’s the natural progression in the life of a little girl.  It also makes Hubby very happy.

Don’t get me wrong, she’s still my little buddy and I’m still the go-to parent for many, many things..

But when it comes to being silly and fun.. it’s all about Daddy.

It’s actually very, very cute to see.

Last night, she kept copying what Daddy would say.  They were teasing me and when I would try to join in by retailiating, M and Hubby kept say, “No, that’s OUR thing.”

Super cute.

The first man in a little girl’s life is her Daddy, and I’m so glad that she’s enjoying her time with hers..

In three months, I will have a three year old.

M will be three years old in three months.

A three month span of time usually flies by in the blink of an eye.

Today, M is 33 months old.

She’s definitely a little person now.  Her language skills have grown in leaps and bounds and we converse constantly.  She asks questions now.  She makes up stories.  She talks all the time!

She constantly makes us laugh.  She continues to keep us on our toes.

She’s found a newfound appreciation for her educational apps and tv shows.  She’s hooked on Superwhy again, and she loves all the little app games that teach her things on her iPad.

I think she’s found a new interest in apps that are more interactive than just watching Youtube videos.  She still loves her Youtube videos, but she now plays games more than just watching things.

I don’t mind it at all.  I know that through those games, she’s learning.  She also knows how to ask me for help, and she can now specify what she needs help with.

The improvement in our communication skills has help us both so much.

Dearest M,
Continue being the loving, happy little girl we adore.  I love your love of life.  I love your curiosity.  I love your brightness!  I pray that you continue to be blessed with happiness and health.  I pray for your safety every hour of every day.  I can’t wait to see what life has in store for you.

Three months.  Time for birthday party planning…
