M has created a new term.

“Sunny ribbon.”

I don’t know where she got it.  I don’t know what it means.

But she says it all the time.

“Sunny ribbon.”

At first, I thought I was just misinterpreting something she was saying.  But when I said, “Sunny ribbon” back to her, she said “Sunny ribbon” right back to me.

“Sunny ribbon.”

She said those two words perfectly.  No baby babble.  No baby prounciations.

Sunny.  Ribbon.

I actually like hearing her say it.  She sounds so “grown up.”

So, I’m still convincing Hubby to guest blog for me.  I  keep telling him that he can pretty much write about whatever he wants… sorta.

I still think it’s a good idea.  I still think it will provide readers with additional insight on our lives.. and our lives as parents..

I really think it’s a good thing..

But, in the meantime, I think I’ve found a guest blogger!

Trust me, this all sounded good in my head.  I’m hoping this executes just as cute as I’m thinking it will be..

The guest blogger is.. M!

Without further ado, here’s my 22-month old daughter, M.  Interview-style.  And believe me when I say that I made sure SHE did all her own typing.

Me:  So M, how’s life so far?
M: ////////////hhhhhh b sx (Translation: Good.)

Me:  What do you like to do for fun?
M: zfzffw4455 (Translation: I love teapots.  I like watching all the DVD’s my parents have given me.  I can’t forget, I LOVE playing with my iPad.  I especially love surfing through Youtube videos.)

Me:  Why can’t you sit still?
M: v       rr (Translation: Mom, I’m a year old.  What do you want from me?!)

Me:  Ok, one more question since you obviously don’t want to be sitting with me right now.  How do you rate me and Daddy’s parenting skills?!
M: prffffffffffff (Translation:  Considering the fact that I’m still alive, and I’m super happy most of the time, I’d say that you are both doing a great job.  I love you, kiss!)

Ok, so I may have embellished a little bit.  But don’t you think that’s what your kid would say if you asked them those questions?!

Hubby and I have a saying to each other when we’re messing around and poking fun with each other..

“Don’t be mean..”

Apparently, we’ve said it enough times that M has figured out how to say it, and in what context..

The other day, I was telling her to sit down and don’t make a mess.  I guess I was saying it a bit too stern for her liking.  She looks at me, and with a little finger wag, she says to me, “No mean, Mimi.

Whoa… I just got put into place by my toddler..

M has been having fun discovering the joys of Youtube videos.  She totally knows how to navigate from one video to the next.

It’s actually quite surprising how she can get from Mother Goose Club videos to Mickey Mouse videos to her Masha and the Bear videos to phonics song videos.. and she hardly asks for help.

She is also very proud of her navigation skills.  We often hear her saying, “Ah found it” when she comes across a video she is familiar with.

“Minnie!  Ah found it!”
“A club, ah found it!”
“Doc!  Ah found it!”
“Masha beah, ah found it!”

The cutest part about it all is that she has to physically come to my side to tell me she found it.

I can be all the way across the room from her and she will walk through everything just to come up to me, look me in the eyes, and tell me, “Ah found it!”

She’s got the look of such pride and joy in finding her video.

In fact, it’s not always a video.. it can be a toy she found in one of her bins, or a picture of a character in one of her coloring books.. anything she finds, she loves to proudly proclaim that she found it.

You can’t help but feel so excited for her!  She found it!

Last night, after M took her bath, she wanted to go to bed.  That was about 9:30pm.

Ok.. an early night.. that’s great!

So we went to bed, she played around with the millions of stuffed animals she’s accumulated on our bed.. suddenly, she got antsy..

She started whining and I couldn’t figure out why..

I told her that she had to tell me what was wrong but she just kept whining..

I started listing off all these things that it could have been.. milk?  potty? more toys? something hurt?  teething?  daddy?

Nothing.

Suddenly, these exact words came out of my little girl’s mouth:

“Carefoo hawt watch pew-tah, yes?”
Translation:  “Be Careful With My Heart.  Watch on the computer? Yes?”

I looked at the time and it was a little passed 10pm, that’s when the next day’s episode of BCWMH shows on the computer..

I didn’t even think that it’s become a part of her little routine, but it has!

The other night, we had watched it on my laptop in the bed, but my laptop has since lost it’s charge, so we had to go to the living room desktop computer.. I know she kind of wanted to watch it in bed, but at least she wasn’t super fussy about that detail.

She actually stayed on my lap for the most of the episode and when it was over, we went right to bed.  She fell asleep shortly after..

Such a funny story.  M really loves to keep my life interesting..

M has discovered a plethora of nursery rhymes on Youtube.

She particularly loves the videos from The Mother Goose Club and from a YouTube account called HooplaKids, or something to that effect.

She’s constantly wanting to listen and watch these videos.. the following are her favorite:

Baa baa sheep (Baa baa black sheep)
Twinkle stah (Twinkle, twinkle little star)
No monkey bed (5 Little Monkeys Jumping on The Bed)
Baby ah-haa (The Wheels on the bus – because of the baby on the bus saying “wah wah wah.)
Teapot (I’m a little teapot)
McNonald (Old Mc Donald had a farm)
‘A’ apple ah ah (Phonics songs)

And that’s all I can think of at this time.  She LOVES these songs at the moment and it’s so cute watching her eyes light up when she sees these videos..

She loves when I help her out with the actions on The Wheels On The Bus, or when we shake our fingers when the doctors says, “No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”

There are even times when she tries to sing along.. it’s so cute.  She can pretty much say the last word of every line of every song.

I love that music is starting to make an impact in her life.

It was inevitable.. the more M spoke, the more her words would be less “baby babble” and more “words.”

I’ve noticed lately that she’s been correcting herself when it comes to certain words and pronunciations..

She hears it so much from us that I guess it was bound to happen.. she’s starting to learn to say her words correctly..

But I do miss her little interpretations.. and she’s also starting to call things by their correct name..

Before: Ah-mahn
Now: Wiper..
Refering to Swiper the Fox in Dora the Explorer

Before: Wah-wah
Now: Wah-teh
Water…

Before: Mimi
Now: Mommy
This actually breaks my heart because I LOVE that she calls me “Mimi.”  This isn’t a permanent fix, she still calls me “Mimi” on her first instinct.  It only changes to “Mommy” if she hears it from somewhere else

Before: Mouse
Now: Mickey..
She also does the same for Minnie..

Before: Mulk..
Now: Milk..
I love hearing her say this one…

There are others that I can’t think of at the moment.. excuse the “mommy brain.”

It’s good to know that her language development is progressing well… it just makes me realize that she really is growing up.. a little too quickly for my liking.. but still.. she’s getting to be a big girl now…
