This year, I decided to not formally do One Little Word, but to still incorporate a word into my year.

This year, I also decided to do two words.  One word is for me.  One word is for the family.

My word this year is EXPLORE.

Last year, I just wanted to survive.  Life with a new baby proved to be a bit overwhelming.  It’s amazing how one little person can make a family feel so complete, but so different, at the same time!  I was trying to figure out how to function.  There were so many changes, becoming a full stay at home mom, taking care of TWO kids.  It was a struggle.  We stayed home a lot because I never really felt brave enough to go out with the two girls without any help.  I was scared I’d mess something up.  I was scared to look like I didn’t know what I was doing.  Just the thought of preparing an outing without Hubby felt overwhelming.  So we only went out without Hubby if it was absolutely necessary.

Towards the end of the year, however, as K got older, and I was much more adjusted, we were able to go out just to get some fresh air.  I was much more confident in getting us out the door and we started going out more.

So this year, I want to further boost my confidence with the word EXPLORE.  This year, we try to go places we don’t usually go.  I want to take my girls to places outside of our usual Target, Starbucks, and Walmart trips.  I want to EXPLORE the libraries, parks, and other fun places.  It doesn’t have to these major outings.  I just want them to be a little more out of our comfort zone.  EXPLORE.

For the family, I chose the word ACTION.

Hubby is very much into fitness, but like me, he’s had to adjust to life as a family of four.  His fitness routine kind of fell to the wayside, as did mine.  This year, we want to change that.  So with ACTION, we want to take more walks.  We want to do more activities.  We plan on teaching M to finally move on from her tricycle and possibly get her on biciycle with training wheels.  K loves to walk around open spaces, so we can go to a park and just walk, run and play.  Hubby wants us to walk to the local bagel shop on some weekend mornings.  It’s all about being active.  ACTION.

What is your one little word, and have you had any success in implementing it so far this year?

Last year, I decided to pick a word that would follow me through out the entire year.

Last year, I picked CHARGE.

This year, I picked CHALLENGE.

This year, I also decided to do the official “One Little Word” year long workshop held by Ali Edwards.   Because it’s more of a scrapbook, craft type project, a lot of the posts of my “One Little Word” journey will be found on my CutieQ Cards n Crafts blog.

I want to blog here about it because I want to talk about why I chose this word.

CHALLENGE.

I picked this word for the layers it seems to have.

Challenges can be seen as obstacles.

This year is going to present itself with a lot of challenges, the possibility of a new baby, becoming a mother of two, figuring out what I want to do careerwise.  This year just looks like it’s going to be one challenge after another.

I chose this word to remind myself that challenges are coming.  I must prepare.

Challenges can also be seen as tests.

This year, I want to challenge myself to become a better person, better mother, better wife, better friend.  I want to give myself little challenges to push myself to stop being so complacent and just put myself out there.  I want to challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone sometimes and do things to allow myself to grow.

I also want to challenge myself to be more creative.  Craft more.  Scrapbook more.  Make more card sales on Etsy.  Make more custom orders.  Make more blog entries.  I want to challenge myself to get better at designing.

Challenge.

CHALLENGE.

It’s such a good word.

It’s a challenge.  It’s a push.

It’s my word of the year.

CHALLENGE.

On my craft blog, CutieQ Cards n Crafts, I wrote an entry about my “One Little Word” for the year.

This “One Little Word” is going to be my theme for this year.  This is my first year doing this, so bear with me as I figure out what it’s truly all about.

This year, I decided that my word would be CHARGE.

I’m using CHARGE because I want to take charge of my life.  I want to take charge of time, and not let time take charge of me.

This pertains not only to my crafting life, but to my personal life as well.  If I set a goal for myself, I will take CHARGE and get it accomplished.  No more excuses about running out of time, or blaming the toddler for my lack of motivation.

This ties right into my goals and expectations for this year perfectly.

CHARGE!
