Living life in the carpool lane..

Alright.. January 2nd, 2014.

I’m back at the daily grind.. the usual schedule.. the 9a-5p.. or, in my case, the 7a-3:30p…

It’s 2014 and I have to get used to writing “14” instead of “13.”  It takes me awhile to even get used to the month changing.. lets see how long it takes me to get used to this year change.

So here we are, at 2014.

This year, I…

  1. Will turn 34.
  2. Will be the mother to a three year old.
  3. Hopefully get pregnant with baby #2.
  4. Hopefully find the change I need to feel satisfied with my “career.”
  5. Will have known and dated Hubby for 6 years.
  6. Will have been married for 4 years.
  7. Will have scrapbooked at least 60 layouts this year (that’s 5 layouts a month..).
  8. Will have increased success in creating and selling some crafts.
  9. Will finally get down to my full weightloss goal.. (only to get prego again!).
  10. Finally figure out how to proper meal plan and grocery shop.
  11. Enjoy family time.
  12. Make several trips to the Birch Aquarium (since we are now members!)
  13. Enjoy friends (ie. make sure M lives in a germ-free bubble so that we can actually hang out with friends).
  14. Take more pictures.

Fourteen things for 2014.  How cute was that?!

What will happen to you in 2014?

Every beginning of the new year, I’m always strangely and overly optimistic that this is the year that my life is going to change profoundly…

Ok, 2010 was one of those years..

Oh.. definitely 2011 was one too..

But, every year, I think to myself that things are going to change.. life is going to change.  I always take the beginning of the year as a fresh start..

“This is the year I’m going to change the world!”

This feeling usually dies down about a week later.. when I’m living my life day to day the same way I was living it the previous year.

I’m still in the middle of feeling very optimistic..

This is the year I will learn to save money!  This is the year that I will start scrapbooking, or at least Project Life!  This is the year I will get my Etsy store set up and actually selling things!  This is the year I will take couponing a little more seriously!  This is the year that I will do exactly everything I say I will do!  This is the year I will be more organized!  This is the year that I will lose all the baby weight!

This is the year I will keep my motivation up!

2013 is my year!

So it’s the time of year when a majority of the people at work use up what ever is left of their vacation time…

I, on the other hand, am at work.

Because I was on maternity leave for all of January, I didn’t accrue any vacation time for that month.

Then, with sick baby time off, small vacation time off, M’s well-baby check ups… I used up all the time that I had for this year.

This means, for the rest of the year (two weeks or so..) I have no more personal time off days or vacation days..

All I have to look forward to are the Christmas holidays and the New Years holidays..

Last year, I was right in the middle of my maternity leave.. so it was nice to have this time of the year off..

The year before that, I used up all my time due to the wedding and our honeymoon.  Therefore, I was working at this time of the year while everyone else was on vacation..

Next year, I hope to plan things a little more differently.

I’m hoping that I can save enough time off that I can take a few days of vacation during this time of the year..

Or.. I can dream that by this time next year, I’ll be a stay at home mom.. a mommy can only dream…

With only days left of 2011, it’s time for me to do my annual “yearly review” of sorts.

2011 has definitely been life-changing.  I was pretty much pregnant for a majority of the year and that was an adventure in itself.  There were so many ups and downs dealing with pregnancy, but I loved every second of it.

In September, I became a mother.  Giving birth was the biggest accomplishment of my life.

I’ve spent the rest of this year on maternity leave and learning the ropes of motherhood.  It’s been the most tiring, yet most rewarding job in my life.  Little M has changed so much from when she was first born, it’s been a whirlwind.

I never thought I’d ever live a year like this.  It’s definitely been a year full of blessings and I’m thankful for every day of 2011.  It’s a year that I will never forget.

Next year is going to be a new year of adventures and blessings.  I’ll be going back to work at the end of January, and that’s going to open up a new world of challenges as I learn to balance working and mothering..

2011, you’ve been nothing but great.

2012, I can’t wait for what you have in store for us.  I pray you give us the same joys that 2011 gave.  You’ve got some shoes to fill.. 2011 has definitely raised the bar!
