I sing at my Church.  I am a member of the Filipino choir at the Church I am a parishoner in.  I’ve sung at the other Church in which I was a parishoner in too.

I started singing at my current Church when someone from that choir had heard me sing at the Cursillo retreat that I attended.

Am I making sense?  Probably not, but my brain is fried and I still felt the need to leave a blog entry.

I guess the point I am trying to make is that singing for the Church is very important to me.  Singing, according to one of the Saints.. I want to say St. Francis.. but I could be wrong.. anyway..

Singing, is like praying twice.. something to that effect.

Music has always, always, always been an important part of my life.  Starting out as a dancer.. then moving on to singing.. I’ve always had music in my life in some form.

From the time I was young, learning how to put a vinyl record in the player and turn it on.. I was singing and dance..

During my “teen angst” years.. I always identified to music to get me through my “moods..”

Growing up.. finding love.. and heartbreak.. music and lyrics have always comforted me..

Now.. growing spiritually.. I have found a new appreciation for music.. for song.. for songs of prayer.. for singing with the congregation.. for guiding the congregation in song.. it’s such a beautiful thing..

The older I get.. the more music is a part of my life.. and I know that it always will be..

I know every line to the Sound Of Music and can recite it along with the movie. This was because I spent a few summers watching that movie everyday growing up.

It is true.. when I was younger.. I had seen The Sound Of Music on television and fell in love with it.  My aunt bought me the VHS version of the movie as a result.

I spent many summers watching that movie.. practically EVERYDAY!!

I would recite the lines right along with the characters.. and sing the songs all the time..

I may not have the movie completely memorized off the top of my head now.. but when I do watch it.. I still can recite the lines of the movie along with the characters..

It’s one of those things that have been engraved in my long-term memory.. and will probably be something I can never forget!

Ok.. Hannah Montana.. Miley Cyrus.. yadda yadda..

Her song, “The Climb” has probably got to be one of the most mature songs I’ve heard from her.. mature in the sense that it’s actually got a great message.. and just is a great feel-good-when-down song.. it’s got great lyrics.. the music is great.. and her recording is pretty decent.

I may like Miley Cyrus.. but I never said she was a phenomenal singer..

Anyway.. I think that these lyrics can actually relate to anyone of any age.. I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there’s a voice inside my head saying
“You’ll never reach it”

Every step I’m taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose

Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

The struggles I’m facing
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I’m not breaking

I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going

And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on

‘Cause there’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose

Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb, yeah!

There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Somebody’s gonna have to lose

Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb, yeah!

Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It’s all about, it’s all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa

And for your viewing pleasure.. I decided to add the video.. but this was also the first time I saw the video and realized that it totally doesn’t give the song justice.. I think it’s over-acted.. oh well..  I said I loved the song.. I never claimed the artist that sang it was perfect..

I promise that I’ll get back to my random factoids.. I’ve been busy.. and kinda lazy.. and I’ve actually had topics to actually blog about… so I guess you can say I’ve been relatively creative.. NOT!

I’m actually blogging because I have a song stuck in my head.. Nelly Furtado.. “On the radio..”

Not the whole song.. but the chorus..

I remember the days when I was so eager to satisfy you
And be less then I was just to prove I could walk beside you
Now that I’ve flown away I see you’ve chosen to stay behind me
And still you curse the day I decided to stay true to myself

I don’t know why it’s stuck in my head.. I’ve always like the melody to that chorus.. and the message isn’t half bad either.. I’m sure we’ve all been in relationships that you thought were right.. and in the end.. you find out you were so very, very wrong.

Makes you scared to jump into another relationship.. but like everything.. it’s a risk.. and a lesson.. and someday.. my prince will come.. who knows.. he may be here already.. let’s hope so!

There are times when song lyrics just seem to touch my heart.  I truly believe that there is a song out there for every single emotion and every single event that can occur in someone’s life.  If not, then in a matter of time, the song will be written.

Song lyrics are important to me.  I grew up with muic.  Music, especially singing, has been such a huge part of my life and has become something I love to do to relieve stress and release energy.  I love to sing.  I love to express my feelings through songs and song lyrics.

I swear, I could totally live my life as as musical.  I could probably break into a musical number at any point of the day.  That’d be entertaining.

Today, I’m home from work because I’m not feeling too great, and I have got so much cleaning up to do and homework to catch up on.  I’ve got iTunes programmed to shuffle through my 1400+ songs.. and this song comes up…

“I’ll Be There For You” sung by a Filipino singer, Aiza Seguerra.

When you wake up each mornin’
and you feel like callin’
I’ll be there for you
When the road seems uncertain
And you can’t stop the hurtin’
I’ll be there for you
When there’s no one beside you
I’ll be there to guide you
Catch you each time you fall
When the stars won’t shine anymore
I’ll be there…

When the world is unkind
And your dreams they need more time
I’ll be there for you
If the rules they keep breakin’
And the future is fadin’
I’ll be there for you
The rainbow will end in the palm of your hand
Don’t ever let it go
When the stars won’t shind anymore
I’ll be there…

Who knows where we’ll go
What will tomorrow bring
When we have each other
Just hold on tight
We can take to the skies and fly…

I’ll be there for you

The rainbow will end in the palm of your hand
Don’t ever let it go
When the stars won’t shine anumore
I’ll be there…

I’ll be there…

This song is so pretty and the words just mean so much to me.  I dedicate that song to all my close friends, family.. and OT.. cuz it’s just a cute thing to do..

I can pretty sentimental, especially when it comes to songs and song lyrics.  One thing that you will start to learn about me is that I can pretty much identify a song with any feeling I am experiencing.  This may be the first, but it definitely won’t be the last..
