My shop has found much success with one item.

A banner.

BoyBanner_2

It was initially a custom order I had completed several months prior.  I was looking for more items on a “made to order” status, when I started searching through my old product phots.  I came up on this banner and thought it was a good idea to add it to my listings.

It was the best decision I had ever made.

Since January, I have gotten at least one order of this banner.  In one month, I had received three orders for this banner.

I’ve been more than happy to make this banner.  It’s created with the utmost care and love.  I use a special lined burlap.  Fraying isn’t an issue.

I really need to get my act together and create a girl banner.  I just wish I had at least one more hour in the day.  One day, there will be a girl banner similar to this one.

Ordering a custom girl banner just might give me enough of a push to really create one.  I’m always open to custom orders!

For the many years that my Etsy store had been open, I struggled with how to manage inventory.

I think I’ve finally figured out my own system.

Fours.

I will be working on becoming a “ready to sell” card shop.  It’s much easier than making greeting cards on demand.  No one wants to wait for a card.  They want to order the card with minimal processing and wait time.

So, fours.

I will be making four copies of every card I make and then I will make it available in the store for purchase.  There will only be four copies of the card for sale.

Once all four cards sell, then it’s gone.

If a design is popular enough, I will create it again and restock the store.

It’s a great way for me to see what sells and what doesn’t.

Seems like a good idea, right?

Disclaimer:  The item featured in this ‘Shopping small’ post is purchased by me.  I am not sponsored by the store featured.

Supporting the small shop community has kind of been my thing lately.  I respect the hard work of every ‘momtrepreneur’ out there.  It’s tough working from home, juggling the kids, and trying to keep a business running.  I should know.  I promised myself I would try to shop small and from the handmade community as much as I can and that I will try my best to promote them in my small corner of the Internet.  So, here we go!

This sweater is from Fresh Apparel.  They specialize in various sweaters, T-shirts, and tank tops for children and adults.

This has got to be one of my favorite designs they have.  I’m definitely ‘living that mom life’ and love wearing this sweater during these cool spring mornings.  It’s soft and super comfy.

Yup, that’s me!

However, I do know that this sweater is a seasonal item for the shop.  I believe that by the time this blog post publishes, this sweater is no longer available until next fall.  I’m still featuring it on the blog because I would love for you to visit their website and check out all the other awesome items and designs they offer!

Visit them on Facebook at Fresh Apparel for my information about the shop and their products.  Don’t forget to visit their shop directly at Fresh Apparel.

Happy shopping!

If there are any other small/handmade shops you’d like me to check out, please leave a comment below.  If I feel like it’s a good fit for myself and this blog, I’d gladly purchase an item and leave a review.

If you’ve followed this blog for awhile, you should know that I have an Etsy shop.  This blog entry will most likely be one big shameless plug for my shop, but hey, I gotta do it sometimes!

CutieQ Cards n Crafts

I’ve had it for years, but when we made the decision for me to quit my job to be a full-time stay-at-home mom, I wanted to put more effort into this shop and make it something worthwhile.

I decided that the shop won’t just be about cards.

The name says ‘cards n crafts’ so I wanted to also focus on some other crafts that I could sell.

I’ve always made banners for parties and occasions.  So I took one banner I had already completed, took a photo of it, and posted it in the shop.  That banner in the shop happens to be my best selling item.  I get at least one order for this banner a month, which actually fulfills my ‘one sale a month’ goal.  To view the best-selling banner, click here and it will send you directly to my Etsy shop.

I also started selling ribbon clips in my Etsy shop.  I’ve always been a fan of clean and simple designs, so these ribbon clips are the perfect reflection of my style.  Click here to see the various ribbon clip sets I have for sale.

Cards are still an important element in my shop, and I try to keep up to date with holidays, but it is pretty difficult.  I was barely able to get some Valentine’s Day cards into the shop.  Luckily, I put out a few and sold a few.

In the processing of moving back into the house and clearing/cleaning up my crafting work space, I found a bunch of cards.  I’m currently in the process of taking pictures of them and creating shop listings for those cards.  They will be one of a kind.  Once they sell, they probably won’t come back due to the new system of card making and selling I am implementing.

But I’ll save that for a blog post next week….

In the meantime, please feel free to visit my little Etsy shop, the link is above.

I do take custom orders, so if there is a banner or card you would like me to make, you can always begin a conversation with me on Etsy and I can help you with what you would like!

Ok, shameless blog post about the Etsy shop is over.. thanks for sticking around!

There are some techniques I have just learned to fall in love with.  Heat embossing and water color resisting is one of them.

I love the resulting look of this technique so much that I decided to create a card set around it.

That’s how the Birthday Stars Card Set was born.

UntitledBirthday cards!  Everyone needs birthday cards, right?

UntitledThere are people born everyday, hence, a birthday is celebrated everyday!  What better way to be prepared by having a card set of birthday cards on hand?!

UntitledDon’t be caught without a birthday card on someone’s birthday.  By owning this card set, you won’t have to drive out to the closest store to buy a birthday card at the last minute.

Untitled

Every card is handmade.  That means that the card set you receive may not look exactly like you see in the photos.  But that’s the beauty of handmade.  Give the gift of a one of a kind, handmade birthday card to someone special.

This card set is $20 + $6.50 shipping. These cards are made to order.  Please allow approximately 1 week after receipt of payment for the card to be shipped out to you.

Please visit the Etsy listing here for more information.

Last week, I introduced you to my very first card set for sale.  You can see the card set by clicking here.

My goal is to reveal one new card set a week.  I’m hoping to start adding them into my Etsy store, but I’m waiting until I get about 5 card sets before I do so.

This week, I’d like to show you the “Hello” Card Set.

Untitled

Haven’t you ever found yourself in need of a card and no time to go to the store?

If you purchase my card sets, you will always have a card on hand for those “just in case” moments!  This cards are perfect because they are no specified for just one type of occasion.  With a stamped “hello” sentiment, you can use these cards for a birthday, a thank you, or just a ‘thinking of you’ moment!

I had a lot of fun making these cards because they were using one of my favorite color combinations.  Red, black and white.  I always find myself super inspired when I make cards in these colors.

UntitledEach card set revealed costs only $20 plus $5 shipping.  Please allow 1-2 weeks AFTER receipt of payment before I ship them out since I have to make them to order.  Like all things handmade, the finished product may not be exactly the same as what is shown in the picture, but it’s definitely made with the same love and care as the ones in the photo.  That’s the beauty of handmade, right?

It’s been a long time coming, but I finally did it.

I’ve been making cards for awhile and I’ve been trying and trying to sell them.  I’ve had some success with having some of my cards at the flower shop that did the flowers for my wedding.

I also want to try to see if I can sell my cards on my own.

I’ve decided to make card sets.  They are a set of 5 cards.  Each set may vary.  They cost $20 with $5 shipping.

I’ve revealed my very first card set on Instagram (@shopcutieq).  You can also purchase through that Instagram account by contacting me through the comments.

Without further ado, here is my first card set, Watercolor Card Set.

Untitled

This card set features a watercolored background.  There are two ‘cheers,’ or congratulatory greeting cards, two birthday cards, and one ‘thank you’ card.

UntitledEach card is watercolored by me.  Each card is hand-stamped by me.  Each card is put together by me.

While only ONE card set is available for immediate sale, if asked, I can create this card set again for you to own.  Just allow me a 1-2 weeks from ordering so I can recreate this set again. With all things handmade, subsequent sets may look slightly different from what is shown in the picture.  I promise you, the quality will be the same.

I haven’t posted this on Etsy yet, but if you are interested in owning a set like this, please follow me on Instagram, @shopcutieq, and contact me there.  I do plan on posting these sets on Etsy once I create about 5 more card sets.

If everything works out, I plan on releasing a card set a week.

Please consider shopping CutieQ for your greeting card needs!
