It’s an end of an era…

M finally said ‘goodbye’ to Gymboree.  She started Gymboree in 2013.  She started with the Play and Learn classes and loved them.  When I ended up being on bedrest, they were gracious enough to grant us two months membership suspension instead of just the original one month.

After K was born, we took her back to a few Play and Learn classes to reacquaint herself to the whole Gymboree experience.  Then, a few weeks into it, we moved her to a School Skills drop-off class.  Taking her to her first drop-off class was so crazy for me.  I couldn’t believe I was going to leave my baby girl in a school setting.  It was just one hour, but it felt like an eternity.

Dropping her off, I remember telling her that she was going into the school room with the teacher and that I would not be with her.  She always seemed so ok with it that I didn’t know if she even knew what was really going to happen.

When we got to Gymboree, she took off into the play area.  She never looked back.  I had to call out to her several times before she even noticed me again so I could say ‘bye.’

She thrived.

She ended up taking an Art drop-off class when her School Skills class got cancelled due to low turn out.  She liked that Art class.

I’m glad I did drop-off classes, even if it was just once a week for an hour, so that she had an idea of what it felt like to be dropped off when her actual preschool starts.

As the Gymboree chapter of her life comes to a close, the preschool chapter of her life will soon begin.

How did my baby grow up so fast?!

I love Gymboree.  M loves Gymboree.

She loves the freedom of being able to climb, slide, jump and run around an indoor playground that changes it’s set up every week!

I love that everything is padded.  I love that M has learned so many physical movements and has perfected many physical skills though exploring the play area.

I love Gymboree and all the activities associated with it.

Now M thinks she can climb, slide, jump and run around EVERYWHERE!

She must absolutely think that our apartment is just an extension of her Gymboree playground.

It’s nerve wracking!

She used to be a huge ball of energy before she started Gymboree classes, but she wasn’t as brave as she is now to get more physical with her surroundings.  She ran around a lot before, but she didn’t jump off of things like she does now!

She jumps off the couch.  She pust a pillow on the floor to jump on and calsl it her ‘trampoline.’  She jumps on the bed.  She tries to jump from our big bed to her toddler bed.

She climbs everything.

She runs around EVERYWHERE…

Did anyone else go through this when they enrolled their child in Gymboree??

Gymboree offers a free trial for their classes.  I found a time slot that worked for my schedule, so I decided to take up the offer.

The class was for Play & Learn 4, ages 18-22 months.

Ok, that should work.  So I signed her up thinking she was 20 months old.

I received a call the morning of the class.

She asked me, “I just wanted to clearify M’s age.  She’s….”

Then, it clicked!

I was so embarrassed.  How could I have made that mistake!?

The woman on the phone was super nice and helped me move my reservation to the Play & Learn 6 class, ages 28-36 months.

Hubby told me it was wishful thinking.  I want to think of M as younger..

I think he’s right.
