If you’ve followed this blog for awhile, you should know that I have an Etsy shop.  This blog entry will most likely be one big shameless plug for my shop, but hey, I gotta do it sometimes!

CutieQ Cards n Crafts

I’ve had it for years, but when we made the decision for me to quit my job to be a full-time stay-at-home mom, I wanted to put more effort into this shop and make it something worthwhile.

I decided that the shop won’t just be about cards.

The name says ‘cards n crafts’ so I wanted to also focus on some other crafts that I could sell.

I’ve always made banners for parties and occasions.  So I took one banner I had already completed, took a photo of it, and posted it in the shop.  That banner in the shop happens to be my best selling item.  I get at least one order for this banner a month, which actually fulfills my ‘one sale a month’ goal.  To view the best-selling banner, click here and it will send you directly to my Etsy shop.

I also started selling ribbon clips in my Etsy shop.  I’ve always been a fan of clean and simple designs, so these ribbon clips are the perfect reflection of my style.  Click here to see the various ribbon clip sets I have for sale.

Cards are still an important element in my shop, and I try to keep up to date with holidays, but it is pretty difficult.  I was barely able to get some Valentine’s Day cards into the shop.  Luckily, I put out a few and sold a few.

In the processing of moving back into the house and clearing/cleaning up my crafting work space, I found a bunch of cards.  I’m currently in the process of taking pictures of them and creating shop listings for those cards.  They will be one of a kind.  Once they sell, they probably won’t come back due to the new system of card making and selling I am implementing.

But I’ll save that for a blog post next week….

In the meantime, please feel free to visit my little Etsy shop, the link is above.

I do take custom orders, so if there is a banner or card you would like me to make, you can always begin a conversation with me on Etsy and I can help you with what you would like!

Ok, shameless blog post about the Etsy shop is over.. thanks for sticking around!

I’ve always loved watching people write with a brush using their water colors.  I always felt like I couldn’t do it, or that my writing was never good enough.

I still don’t think I’m anywhere near as good as those people I watch on Youtube, but I’m starting to like what I create.

This is how I came up with this next card set:  Assorted Brush Script Card Set

UntitledEach card is hand scripted by me using watercolors on white cardstock.  Each card is blank inside so that you can add your own personalized message inside.

Each card set is made to order so please allow 1-2 weeks after receiving the payment for your set to be shipped out.

Like all things handmade, the items you receive may not look exactly like what you see in the photo.  There will be some slight variations, but that’s the beauty of handmade, right?  Every item is one of a kind!!

This card set is $20 plus $5 for shipping.

I hope you like it!  You will be seeing it posted on Etsy soon.

If you have any questions, or would like to see specific cards or cardsets made, please do not hesitate to leave me a comment below and we can get the conversation started!

Last week, I introduced you to my very first card set for sale.  You can see the card set by clicking here.

My goal is to reveal one new card set a week.  I’m hoping to start adding them into my Etsy store, but I’m waiting until I get about 5 card sets before I do so.

This week, I’d like to show you the “Hello” Card Set.

Haven’t you ever found yourself in need of a card and no time to go to the store?

If you purchase my card sets, you will always have a card on hand for those “just in case” moments!  This cards are perfect because they are no specified for just one type of occasion.  With a stamped “hello” sentiment, you can use these cards for a birthday, a thank you, or just a ‘thinking of you’ moment!

I had a lot of fun making these cards because they were using one of my favorite color combinations.  Red, black and white.  I always find myself super inspired when I make cards in these colors.

UntitledEach card set revealed costs only $20 plus $5 shipping.  Please allow 1-2 weeks AFTER receipt of payment before I ship them out since I have to make them to order.  Like all things handmade, the finished product may not be exactly the same as what is shown in the picture, but it’s definitely made with the same love and care as the ones in the photo.  That’s the beauty of handmade, right?

It’s been a long time coming, but I finally did it.

I’ve been making cards for awhile and I’ve been trying and trying to sell them.  I’ve had some success with having some of my cards at the flower shop that did the flowers for my wedding.

I also want to try to see if I can sell my cards on my own.

I’ve decided to make card sets.  They are a set of 5 cards.  Each set may vary.  They cost $20 with $5 shipping.

I’ve revealed my very first card set on Instagram (@shopcutieq).  You can also purchase through that Instagram account by contacting me through the comments.

Without further ado, here is my first card set, Watercolor Card Set.

This card set features a watercolored background.  There are two ‘cheers,’ or congratulatory greeting cards, two birthday cards, and one ‘thank you’ card.

UntitledEach card is watercolored by me.  Each card is hand-stamped by me.  Each card is put together by me.

While only ONE card set is available for immediate sale, if asked, I can create this card set again for you to own.  Just allow me a 1-2 weeks from ordering so I can recreate this set again. With all things handmade, subsequent sets may look slightly different from what is shown in the picture.  I promise you, the quality will be the same.

I haven’t posted this on Etsy yet, but if you are interested in owning a set like this, please follow me on Instagram, @shopcutieq, and contact me there.  I do plan on posting these sets on Etsy once I create about 5 more card sets.

If everything works out, I plan on releasing a card set a week.

Please consider shopping CutieQ for your greeting card needs!

Every year I tell myself that I want to sell Christmas cards.  Every year I tell myself I want to create card sets.

Every year I find myself so very behind on Christmas card production.

Not this year.

This year, I started early.

Christmas in July.

The goal is to have enough cards for the following:
1. Personal use
2. Sell via Etsy or Instagram
3. Sell at the flower shop
4. Sell to select family members that have been asking me for cards for their own use (ie. My mom).

Production isn’t going as quickly as I would like it to go.  For each card design, I make four at a time.  Some cards take longer than one night to create because I use watercolors and need them to dry.  Finding time to create the cards is difficult too.  I try to make the most of my kid’s relatively early bedtime, but I also don’t want to find myself awake at 3am cardmaking…

But I’m pushing through.  I think I’m going to make a decent amount.  I’m determined.  I will make this happen this year.

Here are some of the card designs that I have completed so far…

I’m hoping to have enough cards by mid-November so I can get them up on Etsy and my shop Instagram account for people to start browsing.

Usually I post crafty stuff on my craft blog “CutieQ Cards n Crafts.

This time, since it’s more about observations than actual crafting, I decided to put it here..

I heard there was a Craft Fair at the local Church my family and I attend.  They also have a Craft Mininstry, which I was super curious about since crafting is totally my thing..

I went to the craft fair with intentions of looking at the products, and maybe talking to someone in the ministry to see what is needed to participate in the ministry and in next years craft fair..

We got there fairly early.  It was busy!  I had no idea the craft fair at the Church would be so popular.

When I looked at the products, my heart sank.  If I sat there with my handmade cards and banners, I would have been overlooked completely!  It was jewelry, blankets, soaps, painted art turned into cards, holiday decorations..

Everything looked so much more professional than my handmade cards and banners..

Plus, there weren’t many handmade papergood vendors.. I only saw one table that had some handmade cards and gift card holders, and honestly, they didn’t look like they were getting much business..

I’m sure a lot of the vendors sold handmade crafts, but it just seemed like it was all way out of my league.

There was so much inventory, if I ever wanted to participate, I’d have to start making cards and stuff TWO years before the event!  Plus, there’s the issue of displaying my stuff, and packaging it just right..

I was feeling overwhelmed just thinking about it..

It is a goal to want to participate in something like this in the future.  I wish I could think of more things that I could make in order to make my stuff sell more and sell better.  I wish I wasn’t limiting myself to paper goods.. but with the time and space and budget I have, I really can’t venture into anything else at the moment.

I’m still thinking of ways to make this aspect of my life better.  I’d like it to become something that could make me a little spending money.  I don’t ever expect it to become a full source of income, but it would be nice to see it become something a little helpful.  With all my aspirations of becoming a stay at home mom, a little extra income while doing something I love, is the perfect little dream.

I’ll keep my mind turning for ideas… meanwhile, check out my crafting Facebook page “CutieQ Cards n Crafts” and click “Like.”  I’m so close to reaching 1000 likes!  That will make me totally excited.  Also, visit my blog linked at the beginning of this blog entry!

Thankful November:
I’m thankful for creativity that God has blessed me with.
