Living life in the carpool lane..

Archive for the ‘Thankful November’ Category

Ok.. so I dropped the ball on the whole “Thankful November” thing I wanted to do this year..

I figured that since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I’d make up for it and just do a post about what I’m thankful for..

Obviously, I’m thankful for family.  Not only my little family of Hubby, M and I, but my entire family.. parents, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins, in laws, sibling-in-laws, nieces, nephews.. you related to me?  I’m thankful for you.. A major source of support and love comes from all of you.  I can’t thank you all enough for just being in my life.

I’m especially thankful for M.  She’s my endless source of unconditional love and entertainment.  That girl loves me, and I hope that I never disappoint her.  I’m so thankful that she’s the little person I get to raise.

I’m thankful for Hubby.  He is my partner in crime.  He is my teammate.  I am so very thankful that I get to spend the rest of my life with him.  He’s loving, he’s supportive, he’s entertaining, and he’s challenging.  I love him and I can’t wait to see what else our lives have in store for us.

I’m thankful for the roof over my head.

I’m thankful for the ability to wake up every morning.

I’m thankful that I can function from day to day.

I’m thankful for my friends.  I’ve had to let go of some the negativity in my inner circle and regain my bearings.  I’m just thankful for the friends I do have helped keep my trust in basic friendships.  I’m thankful for the new friends I’ve made this past year and I’m thankful for the friendships of the past that have been rekindled due to social networking.

I’m thankful for crafting.

I’m thankful for photographs.

I’m thankful for cameras.

I’m thankful for coffee.

I’m thankful for 2013.

I’m thankful for life.

There are so many other things I’m thankful for.  I’ve probably forgotten some major ones and I’m sure I’ll remember them once this entry has been published…

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and a great beginning of the holiday season.

I will be taking the day off from the blog tomorrow to spend time with my family.. I hope you all have the opportunity to share this holiday with your family!

M is so interested in Play Doh that a good number of the videos she watches on Youtube involve playing with a Play Doh set.

Not kidding.

She watches this video where they are reviewing some sort of ice cream making Play Doh toy.  She watches this video where someone is making a rainbow with Play Doh.  She watches this video where they are opening a box of some Play Doh toy and just going over what’s inside and then making stuff with it..

It’s pretty cute how obsessed she seems to be with Play Doh.

I won’t buy her any.

Not that I’m against Play Doh.  I used to love Play Doh as a child.  I remember having so many tubs of it.  I also remember being really careful not to mix my colors together.  So the objects I ended up creating were always just one color.  I didn’t like seeing the colors get all mixed up.

The reason I won’t buy her any is because she sticks toys in her mouth.  Yes, at two years old, she still has a habit of sticking things in her mouth.  The scary thing is, since her mouth has obviously grown, objects fit further into her mouth than before.  So we have been SUPER diligent about the objects that are around her.  There are the obvious play foods and table settings that go into her mouth.  She loves to pretend she’s eating, or having a tea party.  Such a girlie girl.  Then there are toys that should be in her mouth, and that’s why I worry.

She always asks for Play Doh videos, and when she sees actual Play Doh in the stores, she always seems to want it.  I feel really bad about not getting it for her, but it’s for her safety.  I tell her all the time, “I will buy you Play Doh when you no longer put random things in your mouth.”  So far, she hasn’t shown me that she’s matured in this aspect, so.. no Play Doh.

I can’t wait until she is old enough for it all.  I can’t wait to play with the Play Doh with her.  Maybe I’ll show her that it’s ok to mix colors.  Maybe that’s more for me than for her.  I shudder to think of the icky brown color that will result when all the colors eventually get smushed together.. :::shudder:::

Thankful November:
November 13 – I’m thankful that my daughter has the opportunity to discover new toys and new experiences through technology.  I’m thankful that she is blessed with these opportunities to grow and learn and develop.

The time change at this time of the year is always my favorite.  It feels like gaining an hour of sleep.. and I LOVE it..

I never know if it’s either the end or the beginning of Daylight Saving Time.. but it doesn’t matter to me.. it’s the mind trick of making it seem like I just gained some sleep..

Eventually my body will adjust, but lets just let me enjoy this for the first week or so…

What I don’t enjoy is how late it feels at 5pm.. that feeling always throws me off..

I’m trying to keep things normal around the toddler.  I’m sure M feels the difference, but I want her to adjust as fast as possible.  I try to keep her meals at around the same time as normal, even though compared to last week, they are all an hour later.  I try to get her to bed at the same time as well.  It’s the same thing I did when we were in Hawaii and when we got back.  Thank God I have a pretty laid back child, and she pretty good at being flexible to change..

How do you adjust your children to the time change?

Thankful November
November 4 – I’m thankful for sleep.  Simple.

The weekend came and I was unable to update the blog.. so much for a fresh start.. oh geez.. well let’s take a moment to catch up..

Thankful November

November 2 – I’m thankful for my husband.  He never ceases to make me laugh, even if it’s at his expense…

November 3 – I’m thankful for the 26 months that M has been in our lives.  I can’t believe how fast time flies, and I’m so thankful for the “everyday adventures” she gives us.

November 4 – I’m thankful for Jury Duty.  I would be at work today if it wasn’t for Jury Duty.. a little break from the norm is a good thing.

I know I’ve been totally MIA.. but I figured November 1st would be a good day to start fresh..

Lots has happened since the last blog..

Hubby and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary.  M, Hubby and I celebrated Halloween.

It’s November and we’re starting to get into “holiday mode.”

Because Thanksgiving is held in November, I’d like to do something special at the end of each blog this month.. it used to circulate around the Myspace/Facebook world every November.. I’m not sure if it’s even a “thing” anymore.. but it’s a “thing” here at “Living life in the carpool lane..”

That is.. at the end of each blog, I am going to post one thing I am thankful for.  I’d love for you to join me in the comments.  Everyday, in the month of November, lets take note of one thing we are thankful for in our lives.  It may be big, it may be small and mundane.. but we should be thankful, nonetheless..

I’ll start:

November 1st – Today, I’m thankful for the way M likes to wrap her arms around my neck and pull my head closer to her so I can give her kisses.

Your turn.
